Steve Abshire is a guitarists’ guitarist who transcends the mythical mountain of musicians that define Washington, DC’s historical provenance. His influences can be summed up simply by saying two words, “Great Guitars” which speaks volumes to jazz’ past, present and future. Sometimes it is not so much with whom one collaborates but with whom one emulates and Steve Abshire has accomplished both. This evening’s performance will be a rare collaboration of two guitar giants steeped in traditional, straight-ahead jazz with a rhythm section comprised of John Previti, John Thamakos and Tommy Lepsom. The evening will begin at 7:30 pm with a pre-show conversation and tutorial of these two guitar equals with their combined collaborations and emulations.
